Sumbe – The works on the Integrated Infrastructure Development Project in the city of Sumbe, Cuanza Sul province, will be completed in December this year, assured this Saturday, in this location, the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos dos Saints.
The project, carried out by the China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC), includes the construction of 1,816 houses, requalification of the city, reconstruction of 13 kilometers of streets, renovation of public lighting and telecommunications networks.
The minister announced the completion of these infrastructures at the end of an inspection visit to the respective works.
During his visit, the official noted that, out of a total of 1,816 T2 and T3 houses, costing more than USD 450 million, 386 homes have already been completed.
On the occasion, CHEC's works director, Miguel Martins, said that, at the moment, the project has a physical execution level of 55 percent and a financial level of 54 percent.
According to the person in charge, the contractor continues to work on completing other residences, believing that the works will be completed by next December.
In addition to the Integrated Infrastructure Development Project, construction of the Sumbe city ring road is also underway, covering a 38-kilometer route, expected to be completed in July 2025. CIJ/LC/QCB/DOJ
