Luanda - The Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas said Tuesday it took notice of a video on social media showing an illegal company carrying out mining activities close to the Angolan coast in south-west Namibe province.
In the press release, to which Angop had access Tuesday, the Ministry explained that the company was not licensed, and thus such activity was described as illegal.
The source adds that the company is not licensed, as it has not complied with the procedures required by the law that approves the Angolan Mining Code (Law 31/11 of 23 August).
The Ministry clarifies that as soon as it became aware of this administrative infringement it coordinated with the Namibe provincial government and requested its good offices to immediately suspend the company's activities.
In its statement, the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas said it will continue monitoring the issue with the attention needed in order to safeguard the national interest.
