MEP praises PDN Program coordinators articulation

Luanda - The Secretary of State for Planning, Milton Reis, acknowledged today in Luanda that there is greater coordination between the coordinators of the Action Programmes (Ministries and Provincial Governments), allowing for better preparation of the Balance Report of the National Development Plan (PDN 2018-2022). 

Milton Reis, who was speaking at the usual Briefing of the Ministry of Economy and Planning, underlined that the different stakeholders have been reporting all the territorial domain actions, developed in each circumscription. 

He reiterated that the PDP Balance report for the first Quarter of 2022 is concluded in technical terms and will be analysed at the next session of the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers, with the elaboration having included the Study, Planning and Statistical Offices (GEPE) in provincial and municipal level. 

In this regard, the referred document presents the level of implementation of the actions foreseen in the 70 action programs of the PDN 2018-2022 until the first Quarter of the year 2022, and the evaluation of the results of the implementation of the goals and objectives planned for the year 2021. 

"(....) Also completed at the technical level is the Report on Food Insecurity, which aims to provide information on moderate and severe food insecurity, as well as monitor the performance of the indicators of SDG 2.1.2 - Prevalence of moderate or severe food insecurity in the population, based on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES)," he noted. 

He explained that the report will make available data resulting from the Agricultural and Fisheries Census (RAPP), for the country to present indicator 2.1.2 of the SDGs - Prevalence of moderate or serious food insecurity in the population, based on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES), with a greater level of disaggregation by province and municipality. 

According to him, the aim of the report is to know the food insecurity situation of the population and of the households living in urban and rural areas, to present the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES) in Angola at the level of municipalities in order to better monitor SDG 2.1.2. 

He added that the report will allow contributing to a better analysis of the existing data on food and nutrition security and produce timely and reliable statistics on food insecurity comparable with international methodologies. 

During the event, the Secretary of State also highlighted the holding, in Luanda, of the Seminar on "How Systemic Thinking can Accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)". 

The seminar aimed to explore and debate the advantages and opportunities of systemic thinking to accelerate the SDGs, and covered topics on the Introduction to the iSDG Model, common understanding of the purpose; the results of the simulation exercise, identification of the country's needs; and identification of data sources.
