Matala - Agricultural cooperatives, peasant associations, businesspeople, entrepreneurs and some neighboring municipalities have been, since Friday, displaying their potential at Expo-Matala, with a focus on establishing new business partnerships.

The event is part of the program for Matala's 66 years, since it became a town, taking place on the 27th, the celebration program starting on the 1st of the current month.

It showcases the diverse local agricultural, fishing and livestock productions, with emphasis on the irrigated perimeter and the rice production that has been tested for five years now, through Chinese investment.

At the opening of the event, Matala's administrator, Manuel Machado Quilende, highlighted that it is an initiative that aims to create opportunities for exhibitors to sell their products and establish contacts that can boost trade, with the signing of future purchase contracts.

He invited interested parties to visit, buy and display their products and services at the event that runs until Sunday (August 25).

Alongside the production, the administrator informed that Expo-Matala also showcases local culture, having announced a “Civic Parade”, the biggest event of the festivities, with the participation of all the living forces of the society, with the aim of showing the diversity of the municipality.

Matala is the second most populated municipality in Huíla, with more than 355 thousand inhabitants, after Lubango, which has close to two million. MS/CF/DOJ
