Lubango- Twenty-two companies from different branches of the economy in the province of Huíla declared bankruptcy in the period from January to February 16 of the current year, due to lack of capital, leaving hundreds of people unemployed and the sector poorer.
The information was given to the press by the president of the Agricultural and Industrial Association (APICIL) of Huíla, Paulo
Gaspar, on the sidelines of the meeting held with the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José Massano.
Without providing comparative data, Paulo Gaspar highlighted that these are large and small companies, some even had more than 400 workers, complaining of difficulties linked to liquidity and the lack of project financing, acquisition of currency for import of raw material.
According to the businessman, another situation that afflicts AAPCIL presented to the minister was the issue of the tax code, the fines and interest that the General Tax Administration (AGT) charges to businesspeople, accelerating the bankruptcy of companies.
He stressed that as for the public debt, “it is very high”, but the minister assured that it is being paid in phases.
The official stated that they left the meeting with hope, as “the minister guaranteed that the Government will improve” with the
implementation of a mechanism to balance the current situation.
The Huíla Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Association (AAPCIL) has more than two thousand members, including small, medium and large ones.
