Luanda – The spokesperson for the Multi-sectoral Commission to Support the Conduct of the 2024 Census, Hernâni Luis, said on Wednesday, that the province of Luanda has 19,800 census agents, out of a total of 79,423 nationwide.
The spokesperson, who was speaking to the press about the status of the 2024 Census, added that this number represents 25%. Next, among the four most represented, are the provinces of Huíla (10%), Cuanza Sul (8%), and Huambo (7%).
On the other hand, Hernâni Luís recapitulated that the census operation will have around 2,400 teachers trained in the area, throughout the national territory, to act as supervisors. The last stage of training for census takers kicked off on Monday, September 9th, and will last for ten days.
Scheduled to start on the 19th of this month, the census will allow obtaining information such as how many people live in the national territory, where and how citizens live, with a view to improving the planning of investments in the areas of housing, energy, basic sanitation, schools, service stations health, roads and other essential services.
Under the motto "Together we count for Angola", this will be the second census in the country, within 10 years, after the one carried out back in 2014.
