Gambos – An Argentine businessman expressed his desire to invest in the livestock sector, with the raising of beef cattle, investment in the tanning and dairy industry, in the municipality of Gambos, Huila province, having already requested land for this purpose.
This is Alfredo Rey, who accompanied by his wife Laura Rey, has been in Huíla since Wednesday and x-rayed the municipality of Gambos on Thursday, for the first time, given its livestock potential and the climate considered “favorable” for production.
When talking about the subject, Alfredo Rey stated that he has a group of partners, whose intention is to invest in livestock farming in Angola, an area that there is potential to explore and develop further.
Even without specifying the amount to be invested, he said that the first step will be to identify land with the necessary conditions for working and then discuss with local producers the issue of the most produced breeds, the process of production and use of the animal, as well as the situation of the animal. slaughterhouse, conservation chambers, among other aspects related to the chain.
The director of the Provincial Office for Integrated Economic Development of Huíla, Domingos Kalumana stated that interaction with investors was strengthened after the visit of the Argentine ambassador to Huíla in October 2023.
The businessman expressed interest in investing in Huíla, in the livestock sector, in cattle breeding and dairy products, which is why the office identified the municipality of Gambos as having great potential for implementing such investments.
In turn, the Gambos administrator, Francisco Barros Leonardo, highlighted that it was the businessman's first observation visit to the municipality and he “estimates” in acquiring more than two thousand heads locally to crossbreed and use products, such as meat, milk, skin, among others.
Regarding the land to implement the project, the person responsible informed that there is availability of two thousand 099 hectares for investment in the sector, with security, energy and water conditions guaranteed.
He added that the land is less than 50 kilometers from the Cunene River, in the Gambos territory and also has water holes installed, so in addition to boosting livestock production, they will be able to have new jobs with the completion of the project.
“We are preparing the complete dossier of the conditions we have, but the investor was willing to invest in Gambos, as he saw that the municipality is suitable for agricultural activity, hence his great intention”, he stated.
He made it known that the municipality has a livestock population of over 200,000 heads, goats and cattle.
