Luanda - National Consumer Price Index recorded a variation of 0.95% from April to May 2023, with an acceleration of 0.03 percentage points, the same value as in the same period last year.
The year-on-year variation stands at 10.62%, recording a decrease of 13.80 percentage points in relation to that seen in the same period of the previous year, May 2022.There is an acceleration in the current variation of 0, 03 percentage points.
According to Quick Information Sheet (FIR) published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the “food and non-alcoholic beverages” class was the one that most contributed to the increase in the general price level, with 0.57 percentage points, during the month of May.
The source also mentioned the classes “miscellaneous goods and services”, as having contributed with 0.10 percentage points, “health” with 0.07 percentage points and “clothing and footwear”, with 0.06 percentage points.
The remaining classes had contributions below 0.06 percentage points.
The “health” class was the one that registered the biggest price increase, with a variation of 1.96%.
The list also highlights price increases in the classes “clothing and footwear” with 1.54%, “miscellaneous goods and services” with 1.47% and “hotels, cafes and restaurants” with 1.20%.
According to the report, the provinces of Bengo (0.73%), Cabinda (0.75%) and Benguela (0.79%) registered less variation in prices.
The provinces of Namibe (1.19%), Zaire (1.09%) and Uíge (1.07%) recorded the greatest change in prices.
Luanda, the country's capital, the general level of the Consumer Price Index recorded a variation of 0.99% from April to May 2023.
Comparing the monthly variations between (April to May 2023), there is also an acceleration of 0.06 percentage points.
The current structure of the National Consumer Price Index (IDR-2018/2019) has 732 goods and services that are all analysed periodically.
