Luanda - The Industrial Production Index (IPI) in 2023 recorded a variation of less than 2.5% compared to the previous year, influenced by the reduction in activity in the extractive industry, which performed 3% better.

According to the IPI results released by the National Statistics Institute (INE), in the same period, there were positive variations in the “Electricity, Gas and Steam Production and Distribution” industries, with 7.2%, “Water and Sanitation Collection, Treatment and Distribution” (0.3%) and “Manufacturing Industries” (0.02%).

INE said the Index of Personnel Employed fell by 0.3%, while the Index of Hours Worked stood at 1.6%.

The aim of the survey, which supports the production of the results presented for the indices under analysis, is to find out about the structure, growth and productivity of the industrial sector in Angola during the reference period.

This data is also used to produce basic statistical information for national accounts, government, international organizations, academics, businesspeople and other users. HM/QCB/AMP
