Malanje – The National Institute for the Defense of Consumer (INADEC), registered, from January to July of the current year, in Malanje, Sixty-four infractions linked to the sale of expired products, delay in debit and credit cards delivery, illegal exercise of commercial activity and failure to display prices on the store shelves.
The head of the institution, Carlos Correia, reported on Monday that the infractions were detected by customers in different commercial establishments and public institutions, and complained to INADEC in the province.
Carlos Correia made these statements during the lecture on publicizing consumer rights, addressed to businesspeople, bank employees, General Tax Office managers, traders and individuals.
He stressed that of the irregularities detected, 50 were resolved in favor of the customers and 14 are pending, awaiting agreements between the parties involved.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of complaints fell, as a result of the reporting culture that citizens are gaining.
Fines were imposed on offenders, resulting in the collection of more than 5 million kwanzas (US$5.671,5) for the State coffers, in addition to other measures.
Meanwhile, he appealed to citizens to be more attentive and vigilant about possible irregularities that may arise from the provision of services by economic operators and to report them.
In turn, the Legal Consultant of the National Institute for Consumer Protection, José Vunje, considered the complaint as an exercise of citizenship provided by law, when a customer's right is violated.
Regarding the lecture, he highlighted that it served to exchange experiences within the scope of the national consumer education program that aims to raise people's legal awareness and takes place in several provinces of the country.
