Icolo e Bengo wins first edition of the Community Fair

Luanda – The Cana Cassassa cooperative from the municipality of Icolo e Bengo won the grand prize  Sunday at the first edition of the Community Fair, which took place from 30 August to 1 September this year, in Largo do Soweto, in Luanda.

For this reason, the cooperative was awarded one million and 500 thousand kwanzas. The urban districts of Maianga were also distinguished at the event, with the prize for “Best participation and commitment” and Samba (Best Stand), which received one million kwanzas each.

The artisanal fishing cooperative “Mama Weza” was subsequently awarded the Revelation Prize, while the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Luanda (ASSOMEL) won the Digital Entrepreneur prize and the Luanda Municipal Command of the National Police won the Public Institution category, each receiving 500,000 kwanzas.

At the closing ceremony of the fair, the provincial director of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, João Pedro, highlighted that the cooperation and exchange of experience provided by the event were essential to achieving the ultimate goal of the initiative, with emphasis on the development and sustainability of families.

The event, organized by the Provincial Government of Luanda (GPL), through the offices of Agriculture and Integrated Trade, was attended by more than 100 exhibitors, who presented a variety of agricultural products, fisheries, poultry farming, handicrafts, and aquaculture, among others.

 The initiative, which will take place every two weeks as part of the Trade Reorganization Program (PRC) designed by GPL, has as one of its main objectives to demonstrate the existence of alternative places for sales in better conditions of comfort, hygiene and safety.
