Caxito - A factory for the assembly of 1,000 buses per year, starting in the third quarter of 2025, is being built in the Barra do Dande Free Development Zone, municipality of Dande, Province of Bengo.

The Opaia Group initiative, in partnership with Volvo Bus Corporation and its representative in Angola, Auto Sueco, is valued at USD 90 million, financed by African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and is being implemented in a total area of 25 hectares.

The factory will include a line for chassis integration, interior and exterior assembly, painting, quality testing, among others.

According to the CEO of the Opaia group, Agostinho Kapaia, the project is being financed by Afreximbank as part of its support for African industry.

The manufacturing unit will not only supply the Angolan market, but also export to other regions of Africa.

The secretary of State for Transport, Jorge Bengue said that the sector is currently making a huge effort to renew the fleet of both public and private buses and the installation of this factory will considerably reduce costs.

In turn, the Swedish ambassador to Angola, Lennart Killander Larsson, considers the project to be very important for the transport sector in Angola.
