Luanda - According to the minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, the Angolan Executive is working to launch, later this year, the international public tender for the concession of the Namibe corridor, aiming to boost the economy in this part of the country.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, after the message about the State of the Nation, the government official said that preparation work for the launch of the tender is almost done.
“After the success achieved with the reactivation of the Lobito Corridor, we intend to replicate the feat in the Namibe corridor”, he announced, highlighting that a large part of the preparatory process for the opening of this public tender has been completed.
In the message about the State of Nation, the Head of State envisaged the launch of the international public tender for the concession of the Namibe Corridor.
He stated, on the other hand, that the Lobito Corridor represents a “landmark whose strategic importance transcends the country’s borders”.
He emphasized that through international initiatives, namely from the United States of America, the European Union and financial institutions, there is an interest in financing for the extension of the Lobito Corridor to Zambia, from Luacano (Moxico Province) to the territory of Solwezi, covering a length of 700 kilometers.
President João Lourenço addressed, on Tuesday, a message about the state of the nation, marking the opening of the parliamentary year.
