Luanda – At least two speedboats valued at 40 million kwanzas were handed over Wednesday to the Fiscal Police Command in Luanda to reinforce maritime surveillance in Cacuaco municipality and Cabo Ledo commune (Quissama).
These are two small vessels that join seven others (three medium-sized and four small) that are supervising artisanal fishing on the seafront in these towns.
The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Carmen dos Santos, reiterated that the sector continues to work to secure that fishing is carried out properly and in compliance with the rules.
Paulo Reis, head of the speedboat production company, guaranteed that the two vessels have been fine-tuned according to the needs requested, such as communication, navigation lights and sirens.
The second in command of the Customs Tax Police, Mário Alberto, considered the acquisition of the respective speedboats to be a satisfactory initiative, as it strengthens the work of the marine surveillance group.
He also said that, with these means, the Tax Police will minimize the acts of non-compliance with fishing rules that have taken place on the national coastline.
The national coastline is 1,600 kilometers long and is mainly exploited by artisanal fishing. ML/QCB/DAN/AMP
