Luanda - The government has said it plans by 2027, to cover more than 60 percent of land use planning instruments at municipal level throughout the country, in order to strengthen land management under the preparation and implementation of urban plans.
The information was disclosed Wednesday by the national director of Territorial Planning and Urbanism, Alcibíades Guynhy.
Speaking at the presentation of the proposal for the Operational Plan for Territorial Planning and Urbanism (Planurb 2024-2027), the official said there are currently 33 municipal master plans that would be promoted in this area.
The official explained that seven other plans for border municipalities on the coast, which are considered strategic, should be organized in terms of human settlements.
According to Alcibíades Guynhy, the sector is encouraging the state's local administration bodies to partner with the institutions to strengthen the capacity to draw up the spatial planning instrument and make it operational.
The Secretary of State for Urban Planning and Housing, Manuel Canguezeze, on his turn, stressed the need for a plan to be outlined in view of the exponential growth of municipalities and towns.
Planurb 2024-2027 seeks to respond to the various problems identified in the Diagnosis of the State of National Territorial Planning (DEOTN, 2018), as well as to create conditions for implementing the guidelines defined by the government in the 2023-2027 National Development Plan.
The plan's actions contribute to the implementation of the territorial development model defined in the Long-Term Development Strategy for Angola (ELP 2050).
Land planning and urbanism are strategically and unequivocally one of the fundamental pillars for the harmonious, sustainable and balanced development of the territory. HM/VC/AMP
