Menongue – The National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) announced, on Thursday, in Menongue, the start soon of advanced studies for oil exploration in the municipalities of Calai and Rivungo, through the Tochi Basin - Okavango.
The information was passed on by the director of the security office of the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG), Manuel Domingos, after a meeting he held with the governor of Cuando-Cubango, José Martins.
According to Manuel Domingos, from the meeting he received guarantees of effective assurance from the government of Cuando-Cubango, to support all activities linked to ANPG for the success of the oil prospecting process.
He said that the objective of the meeting with the governor was to guarantee security for the access and mobility of technical teams that will be able to study the geological potential of the province of Cuando-Cubango, mainly in collecting samples to determine whether or not there is oil.
The director said that, regarding the time determined for the prospecting activity, everything will depend on mobility conditions, speed and environmental issues, and the demining process to verify access.
For this prospecting activity, ANPG has two basins, one of Cassange, which covers the territory of Malanje, Cuanza-Norte, Uíge, Lunda-Norte, Lunda-Sul, and the other of Tochi-Okavango, which includes the provinces of Cunene, part do Moxico and Cuando-Cubango.
For the Tochi-Okavango Basin there are 3k prospecting sample points with positive potentiality.
