Luanda – The Finance Minister Vera Daves Thursday reiterated the state's ongoing work to present public accounts on time and with quality as one of the goals to be achieved by 2026/2027.
The minister, who was speaking at the commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of the creation of the Court of Auditors, pointed out that some work that has already been done in the public business sector must continue to be strengthened.
Vera Daves said the budgetary units are already aware of the need to present the accounts, but that the time and quality components still need to be improved.
The other prerequisite pointed out by the minister is transparency, which means doing better.
"In the capital market, transparency is the key to business, otherwise you pay the consequences," the minister said.
Vera Daves stressed that planning and prioritizing spending is the key in this process, and the government recently took the decision to have a ministerial department for Planning, since it understood that planning promotes good budget execution.
For Vera Daves, the public manager must understand the rules of budget execution and the consequences of not complying with them, enabling the organization to become stronger and learn the consequences of infringement.
The day commemorating 23 years of the Angolan Court of Auditors is being held under the slogan "23 Years, Promoting Transparency and Accountability in Public Finances".
The event includes guests from the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and will cover topics such as "Good budget execution practices", "Results and benefits of auditing" and "Types of control by the Court of Auditors over public contractual activity" over three days. ML/AC/TED/AMP
