Luanda – The Planning minister, Victor Hugo Guilherme, on Friday in Luanda reiterated the Angolan Executive’s commitment to policies turned to the increase of production and economy diversification.
The minister was speaking to the press, on the fringes of the ceremony of yearend greetings to the Head of State, having stressed that the focus for 2025 is to work for economic growth and more employment for the youth.
“Companies and families have been working for a higher growth, higher than what we had in the third quarter of 2024, which stood at 5.5%, a percentage we had not recorded in 15 years”, he explained.
In his view, the economic diversification process must be centered on agriculture, mainly, and the distribution chain.
The minister also defended the need for improvements in the sectors of education and health.
At the Presidential Palace, João Lourenço, flanked by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, received yearend greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, and the Speaker of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira.
Other personalities at the ceremony were the Supreme Court Chief Justice, Joel Leonardo, the Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court, Laurinda Cardoso, the Audit Court Chief, Sebastião Gunza, and the Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Gróz.
The guest list includes government officials, members of the Council of the Republic, heads of defence and security bodies, members of the Parliament, leaders of political parties, religious pe and civil society personalities, as well as traditional authorities.
Greetings at the Presidential Palace is a tradition in Angola, where the President of the Republic, accompanied by the First Lady, receives season greetings from representatives of various sectors of the Angolan society to celebrate the end of the year and renew vows for the following year.
