Sumbe - The governor of the province of Kwanza-Sul, Mara Quiosa, said on Friday, that the capabilities of the Research and Technological Center for the oil industry of the National Petroleum Institute (INP) can contribute to the agro-industry.
Mara Quiosa, who visited, for the first time, the various INP facilities together with the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, said it is an institution of great importance in the local and national context, as, in addition to projection, Design and manufacture of parts for mechanics, hydraulics, electromechanical pneumatics and renewable energy, can contribute to the agricultural and industrial sectors.
In turn, Minister Diamantino Azevedo was enthusiastic about the INP's growth, which is increasingly showing interest among young Angolans in joining the institution.
He highlighted that this interest represents the excellent quality of teaching provided by INP.
He called on operators in the mining sector to continue supporting, with equipment and internships or even employment, the institution's finalists, with a view to the country's development.
The Research and Technological Center was opened in 2022, with the aim of improving qualifications, employability and the organizational development of companies, from the perspective of modernization, increased productivity and competitiveness in the oil sector.
It also aims to support training needs in the areas of Electromechanics, Automation, Instrumentation, Mechanical Metalwork and Welding, Mechanical Construction, Project Operation and Design, Plumbing and Gas, among others in the oil industry.
It has the capacity to train 120 students, using state-of-the-art equipment from the United States of America, Portugal and Germany.
The center was supported by the oil company TOTAL EP and the Government of Angola.
The INP was created in 1983 and offers courses in petroleum geology, mines, drilling and production, gas processing, refinery, petroleum instrumentation, petroleum installation mechanics, industrial electricity, production and refinery operators, whose teaching is provided by more than 80 teachers.
