Huambo - The Finance sector in Huambo province collected 1.6 billion Kwanzas for the state coffers, between January and July this year, 158% more than in the same period of 2023.
The information was provided to the press on Tuesday by the local Finance Delegate, João Bastos, who said that the amount resulted from the collection of various taxes.
These are taxes on Labor Income, Stamp, Value Added, Industrial, Urban Property, consumption of various tax products, among others.
João Bastos said that the increase in revenues resulted from the increase in citizens' tax awareness, with the intensification of awareness campaigns on the importance of paying the tax.
The official said that another reason is due to the improvement in the effectiveness of inspection actions and diversification of sources, by taxpayers, both individual and collective, who, in turn, have benefited from lectures and enlightening meetings.
Therefore, the official hoped to collect more than three billion Kwanzas for the State coffers by the end of the year,
He said that the indicators are positive with the involvement of municipal administrations, through the citizen's portal, as well as provincial offices and general and higher education institutions.
João Basto explained that the institutions collect revenues and then have the return of these amounts that are approved by the Finance Delegation, within a period of 24 hours, to meet the expenses with personnel, development and investments. JSV/ALH/DOJ
