FILDA 2024: Sonangol wins 'Golden Lion' grand prize

Luanda - Angolan state oil company Sonangol was the winner of the 'Golden Lion' grand prize at the 39th edition of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA 2024), which ends Sunday, in the Special Economic Zone.

The delivery of this award, which aims to distinguish the exhibitor who stood out the most during the fair, was made during a gala held on Saturday night (27), in one of the hotels in Luanda. This award is part of a universe of 24 categories.

The event, which has more than 1,700 exhibitors, including national and foreign, also distinguished the Port of Luanda, which took the 'Public Entity and Companies' category, while the National Ticketing Company (ENBI) won the 'Best Participation in Public Utility Services' award.

The 'Trade and Service' category went to Planad and 'Best Participation in the Printing, Packaging and Paper Industry' went to FS Global.

In the same vein, the company Quinta Crescente won the 'Food and Beverages' category, Casais Angola won the 'Civil Construction and Public Works' award, Ensa Seguros won the award in the insurance sector, while the press category went to TPA and 'Made in Angola' to ICC Angola.

For the 'Agriculture and Fisheries' category, the award went to the Provincial Government of Namibe, 'Cosmetics and Health' to Probeauty, 'Energy and Water' to Anglobal, while 'Transport and Logistics' to TAAG.

The category 'Best Industry Participation' went to Rosibien, Play4All won the 'Best Digital Economy Participation', Multitel took 'Innovative Products' and Standard Bank won the 'Brand Activation' award.

Additionally, the 'Financial Services' category went to the Credit Guarantee Fund, 'Light vehicles and motorcycles' to the Cosal Group, Chevron won the 'Oil and gas' category, Banco Yetu went to 'Banking and financial services' and Unitel won the 'Telecommunications and information technology' category.

On the other hand, Portugal won the 'Best International Participation' category.

In addition to the winners, the organization also delivered 10 honorable mentions.

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Rui Miguêns de Oliveira, considered FILDA as more than an exhibition or business center, but a construction of the country for future generations.

'We are taking the path of food self-sufficiency, which is a challenge for everyone', he recalled.

He praised the presence of small agricultural producers and the sellers of the Mercado do Trinta, in Luanda, at the fair, noting that trade brings people and nations together, to create bases for understanding and search for solutions.

In turn, the CEO of the Arena Eventos group, Bruno Albernaz, revealed that the number of participants in this fair increased considerably, making a positive assessment of the event.

In addition to the Golden Lion gala, the penultimate day of FILDA was dedicated to the family, with the registration of the influx of several visitors to the fair. 

FILDA, which in this edition has more than 1,700 exhibitors, compared to 1,350 in the previous edition, is the largest showcase for national promotion, business and job promotion.

In this edition, 19 countries are present, with emphasis on South Africa, Namibia, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Portugal, USA, South Korea, Turkey and Canada.

The 39th edition of FILDA takes place under the motto 'Food security and international partnership: The binomial of economic diversification', in an area of 144,000 square meters, 42,000 of which are recreational exhibition areas.

Its realization in the Special Economic Zone, Luanda – Bengo is configured as a direct or indirect invitation to investment in Angola. ML/QCB/DOJ
