Luanda - The Prime Minister of Portugal, Luís Montenegro, pointed out, on Wednesday, at the Luanda International Fair (FILDA 2024) the existence of opportunities in Angola and Portugal, to welcome private investment in new businesses, with a view to increasing the productive and competitive capacity of the two countries.

Speaking during the Angola-Portugal Economic Forum, on the sidelines of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA), Luís Montenegro stressed that this investment allows for a fairer society, giving greater productive capacity to the primary sector, such as agriculture, fisheries, trade and industry.

The Prime Minister highlighted the existence of instruments available to entrepreneurs to, in collaboration with the financial system, place more investment opportunities in companies.

'We are also committed to giving opportunities to the children of Portugal and to those who seek Portugal to work, to help us build a fairer and more prosperous country,' he said.

He added that the Angolan market is relevant for Portuguese companies, a fact that requires a tax regime that is 'very investment-friendly'.

According to Luís Montenegro, more than 1,250 Portuguese companies operate in Angola in the metalworking, agri-food, tourism, energy, innovation and vocational training sectors.

The Angola-Portugal Economic Forum, with the theme 'Food Security: We build opportunities', is part of the economic program aimed at Portuguese and Angolan companies and entities, with the presence or interest in addressing the Angolan market.

The main objective is to foster the increase of the bilateral relationship, identify new business and investment opportunities, as well as stimulate the participation of new economic operators in the effort to diversify Angola's economy.

The 39th edition of the fair takes place under the motto 'Food security and international partnership: the binomial of economic diversification', in an area of 144 thousand square meters, 42 thousand of which are recreational exhibition areas.

The business exchange, which has more than 1,350 exhibitors from the previous edition, is the largest showcase for national promotion, business and job promotion. In fact, the international character of FILDA also has a fingerprint in fostering the diversification of the economy.

Its realization in the ZEE – Special Economic Zone, Luanda - Bengo is configured as a direct or indirect invitation to investment in Angola. HM/QCB/DOJ
