Cuito - A bakery, which makes bread with wheat flour produced on a local farm, was opened on Tuesday in the province of Bié.
Called 'Ombolo Yofeka', Umbundu language, which means 'The bread of motherland', the bakery has the capacity to produce 5,000 loaves of bread daily, with the raw material (flour) produced by the Vinevala farm for more than a year.
The venture offered, in a first phase, 20 jobs to young people.
The bakery, located in the city of Cuito, the provincial capital, is a result of an investment of more than one hundred million kwanzas.
Speaking at the event, the provincial director of Integrated Economic Development, Figueiredo Canguende, said that the entry into operation of this establishment lives up to the objectives of the Angolan Government.
He highlighted the importance of this investment in reducing unemployment and raising revenue for the State.
Young people who found their first job praised the private initiative, for facilitating the emergence of projects of this kind that aim to raise the standard of living of families.
The Vinevala Farm, located in the municipality of Chinguar, with more than 4,000 workers, expects to harvest more than 15,000 tons of wheat in the current agricultural season, grown in an area of more than five thousand hectares.
It started to transform this cereal into flour since September last year, with the installation of an industrial unit with the capacity to transform 30 tons of flour per day.
The farm has in its portfolio the acquisition of another industry for the production of pasta, which should also be installed in the municipality of Chinguar. JEC/PLB/DOJ
