Lubango - Sixty vulnerable families in the municipality of Chibia, in the province of Huíla, on Friday benefited from 25 sows of pigs and 75 goats for development, within the framework of the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty.
The action is in its 3rd phase of delivery of pig breeders and the first of goats. The previous ones took place in 2023, with 50 units being distributed to empower 25 peasant families and the second in December, where 36 families benefited from 72 matrices.
Each family received a male and a female, of the South African large white breed, in order to stimulate the genetic improvement of the pig species and an equal number of goats, to generate income and combat hunger and poverty in the communities.
The representative of breeders and peasants in the municipality of Chibia, Ambrósio Tchatenda, expressed gratitude for the action that will serve to promote agricultural and livestock farming.
The municipal administrator of Chibia, Sérgio da Cunha Velho, said that the delivery of these animals to families is a continuation project, the idea of which is to reach more and more people.
“We also have in our portfolio the acquisition of 2000 chicks, so that we can then deliver them to families for their empowerment.
We do not want families to receive these animals as part of the anti-poverty program and sell them, it is not for sale , but to create and reproduce and benefit other families over time”, he explained. BP/MS/DOJ
