Caxito – Two thousand and 500 million Kwanzas were spent, this year, by the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA), on the acquisition of 150 agricultural equipment for eight provinces of the country, within the scope of the light mechanization program for family farming.
These are the provinces of Namibe, Benguela, Uíge, Malange, Cuanza-Sul, Huambo, Bié, and Huila, which were included in the first phase (pilot) with motor cultivators and tractors to increase production, the chairperson of FADA, Felisbela Francisco, reported today, in Caxito.
The manager, who was speaking at an alignment meeting regarding the implementation of the Family Farming Acceleration and Food Security Reinforcement (OSI YETU) program, informed that the second phase foresees financing the acquisition of 3,019 pieces of equipment to benefit the country's 18 provinces, within the scope of credit for investment in agricultural equipment.
This equipment refers to small tractors, motor cultivators, small irrigation systems, chainsaws, motor pumps, harvesters, dryers.
She clarified that this credit, estimated at ten million Kwanzas, is intended for the family agricultural sector and aims to promote the modernization of agricultural practices, boosting the increase in production areas and productivity.
She announced the existence of other initiatives such as Credit to Community Banks, a financial product aimed at agricultural cooperatives.
She said it was a package that aims to finance land preparation, agricultural inputs, equipment acquisition, technical assistance and working capital.
For the 2024/2026 three-year period, she informed, FADA plans to support more than 1,119 cooperatives with credit to community funds, worth up to around 25 million Kwanzas.
She revealed that the “OSI YETU” program has other financial packages such as the Single Family Farmer Registry, for real control of beneficiaries of Executive financing, and Food Security to finance short-cycle crops that have a nutritional focus.
In addition to these, FADA also has three lines of financing aimed at supporting commercialization, for the acquisition of rolling means and flow of agricultural products, for rural women and young people trained in agricultural sciences or with vocation for agriculture.
It also has a specific line of credit to finance special products that have a broad export component such as cotton, honey, coffee, cocoa, palmar, sunflower, among others. FS/CJ/IF/DOJ
