Luanda – The exports of different goods such as oil, coffee, fruit and drinks, from Angola to Portugal reached 438 million euros from January to August 2022, recording an increase of 506,4% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The  data were released Tuesday in Luanda by the economic adviser of the Portuguese Embassy to Angola, João Falardo, who revealed that in the rferred period the exports of products from Portugal to Angola were at 890.2 million euros, representing a rise of 50.8 percent.

With that statistics, he said, Angola now ranks 9th in the table of Portugal´s main customers, having risen one position from 2021.

While speaking in the 5th business meeting between Angolans and Portuguese, the representative added that Angola ranks as the 27th supplier of goods for Portugal rising 21 positions.

At the time, he stated that the mentioned data are essentially the result of the presence of roughly 1,300 companies with Portuguese or mixed stock that operate in Angolan territory in the fields of civil construction, infrastructure, agri-food, banking, insurance,  insurance, metalworking, energy, transport and logistics.

Without saying the exact number of the Job posts created by these companies, João Falardo highlighted that they generated thousands of direct and indirect jobs, thus creating shared wealth between both countries.

According to the official who is also the representative of the Portuguese Agency for Investment and External Trade, the economic diversification programme of the Angolan government should be considered by the Portuguese companies as the source of business opportunities, aiming to bring mutual benefits and shared wealth among both sides.

To the secretary of State for Trade, Amadeu Nunes, the bilateral relations between Angola and Portugal are stable, urging more work for at least the country to become the second or the third  largest exporter to Portugal.

The 5th business meeting between Angola and Portugal was held in the scope of the 35 years of existence of the Portugal-Angola Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIPA), serving as an opportunity to listen to the business community of the two countries.

The CCIPA has the mission of providing to the associated companies information and knowledge regarding Angola and Portugal.

CCIPA´s mission is to provide member companies with information and knowledge of Angola and Portugal, allowing them to safely assess the possibility of internationalising their business to both markets.
