Ondjiva – Fifty companies and 77 fairgrounds are exhibiting the potential of different sectors at the 16th edition of Expo-Cunene/2024, which takes place from the 10th to the 25th of this month, in this location, as part of the celebrations of the 54th anniversary of this province, marked on the 10th July.
Among the products on display are agricultural goods, mineral resources, textile industry, handicrafts, ornamentation, health services, restaurant insurance, hotels and real estate.
The event, which takes place for the first time in the town of Omufitu wa Kaanamwena, 13 kilometers south of the city of Ondjiva, has exhibitors from Cunene, Huíla, Luanda and the Republic of Namibia.
The space, with 50 stands set up, houses 77 stalls, 14 restaurants, a warehouse, three changing rooms, a police station, civil protection and firefighters and health services.
Regarding this fair, the event coordinator, José Ventura, praised the Provincial Government's support in implementing the space to create the best business environment between national and foreign businesspeople.
For her part, the governor of Cunene, Gerdina Didalelwa, highlighted that the event serves as an opportunity for companies to promote and establish business, in an open and competitive market context.
The official said that promoting the expo will also stimulate local production, showcase the economic potential of the municipalities and provide business opportunities and interaction between various economic agents.
Despite the economic and financial situation that the country is going through, she highlighted that the Executive has implemented policies to empower economic agents, in order to boost the national economy.
She called on investors to take advantage of the region's existing potential, highlighting that Cunene is positioned in an important strategic development corridor that runs from the southern coast to the SADC countries, in addition to being rich in cultural, ethnolinguistic and natural resources.
Under the motto 'Cunene 54 years, unity, resilience and development', the event will also host the cattle auction, scheduled for the 27th of this month.
The opening of the expo was witnessed by the secretary of the President of the Republic for the Productive area, Isaac dos Anjos, the governors of the regions of Cunene and Oshana (Namibia), Marius Sheya and Elias Irimari, respectively, the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Castro Camarada, among other individualities.
