Luanda - The Angolan government has said it remains committed to consolidating the liberalization of the broadband market, promoting competition and encouraging the sharing of electronic communications infrastructures.

The position was reiterated Tuesday in Luanda by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technology, Pascoal Fernandes, at the opening of the third edition of the Angola Digital Forum (ADF), held under the motto "Digital transformation and sustainability".

According to the official, the commitment will maximize efficiency in the implementation of networks, reduce costs and eliminate barriers to new players entering the market.

The official added that the implementation of a digital inclusion infrastructure based on a national broadband network is one of the government’s goals for the development of the information and knowledge in the society.

Fernades said the government plans to build 1,980 kilometers of optical fiber, implement the "national cloud" infrastructure platform and to promote interaction between the various public administration bodies in the secure sharing of information between institutions and citizens.

The Secretary of State defended the need for a continued national and foreign investment in telecommunications infrastructures, with a view to increasing and improving quality and access to digital services.

The Angola Digital Forum (ADF) is an innovative and transformative event aimed at bringing together leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts in the areas of digital transformation and sustainability for a collaborative interaction.

The event addresses questions about the "frontiers" of technology and explores how it can be applied effectively to drive sustainable practices in various sectors, with the aim of inspiring tangible action, promoting awareness and fostering collaborations that lead to a more responsible future.

Companies from the telecommunications, technology, finance, energy, industry, oil and gas sectors are taking part.

Aspects linked to the importance, role, challenges, opportunities and solutions of uniting the frontiers of digital transformation, sustainability and the consequent sustainable development of Angola were also debated at the forum. HM/VC/TED/AMP
