Talatona-Angola is the economy with the highest rate of early-stage entrepreneurship among 50 economies analyzed in the period 2022 and 2023, a research conducted by the Catholic University of Angola Center for Studies and Scientific Research of (CEIC-UCAN) has said.
The research, whose aim was to map entrepreneurship in Angola, said the country achieved an early-stage entrepreneurship rate of 53.4 percent - an 8 percent growth compared to economies analyzed, including 5 African countries.
The study presented at the session of the 9th edition of the “Project Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Angola”, points to Guatemala with 29.4% - the second highest rate, and Poland with 1.6%, the lowest, among the 50 analyzed economies.
Several analysis criteria were considered to obtain the results, the study said.
As for failure, the research shows that it is relatively low in recent years, presenting, in 2020, values approximately 49.6%, compared to 2018.
It states that the intention to start a business estimated at 58.6 percent continues to be the highest among Angolan populations than any other of the countries analyzed by the GEM in the period 2022-2023.
The study highlights that entrepreneurial activity in the youngest age between 25-34 years old registered the greatest growth in 2022, with 58.6 percent, which has increased year on year since 2018 when it was 51% and 54% in 2020.
Speaking at the presentation session of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Study, the BFA bank private business director, Euclides Capitamolo, said the project is one of the most referenced studies evaluating entrepreneurial activities.
Capitamolo highlighted that the study explores the trajectory of countless entrepreneurs who dared to dream, create and innovate, analyzing their challenges, contributing to a promising economic scenario that is more resilient to global fluctuations.
GEM brings together information collected over the last 22 years, having analyzed, in that period, more than 120 economies, with the collaboration of more than 500 experts and the contribution of more than 300 research institutes and 200 000 interviews.
South Africa, Germany, Togo, France, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Morocco, South Korea, Sweden, United Kingdom, Brazil are just a few, among the 50 countries analyzed during the conduct of the study. VS/PPA/CF/AMP
