Luanda – The mobile phone services company Unitel will provide and install equipment (router) for use of the 5G network at customers' homes free of charge, said Tuesday in Luanda the company's director, Júlio Gonçalves.
Speaking to the press, after the public presentation of the residential Internet service, called "Unitel Net Casa", Gonçalves said the company's agents will meet potential customers to offer and install the technological means in their homes, at no cost to users.
"The clients will not pay anything for the access and installation of the equipment in their homes, but they will pay for the services provided by 5G", he said.
Unitel Net Casa includes five weekly and monthly plans, with prices that vary from 4,000 kwanzas to Kz 125 000 with the speed varying between 10 to 200 megabytes per second (mbps).
As an example, in 30 days, the client may spend 15 000 kwanzas to enjoy the 5G service with a speed of 10 mbps.
From the Router, users will also be able to share the internet with up to five mobile phones, depending on the plan to be used.
According to Júlio Gonçalves, the fifth generation of cell phones (5G) largely surpasses the speed and the volume of information of the current 3G and 4G services.
This technology also allows greater speed in telemedicine services, reducing in-person labour in industries, for example.
Officially launched in November, Unitel Net Casa will cover 29 zones in Luanda, in the first phase, expecting to cover the entire capital city in the near future.
After covering the entire extension of Luanda, Unitel will expand 5G to the remaining provinces of the country, starting with Benguela Huíla and Huambo, the source said.
With at least 12 million customers, leader of the mobile telephony market in Angola, Unitel first tested the 5G service in December 2021.
