Quibala - At least 10,000 families in the municipality of Quibala, Cuanza-Sul province, will, between November and December this year, benefit from electricity from a new 25 MVA substation that is being installed in the locality.
The announcement was made by the director of ENDE in Cuanza-Sul, Domingos Bambi, at the end of a visit by the provincial governor, Mara Quiosa.
The new Quibala Substation will allow the deactivation of the 220/30 Kv – 10 MVA mobile substation, which allowed three thousand and 427 household connections and, consequently, its assembly in the municipality of Ebo.
According to the director, 'we are talking about a power of 25 MVA that will bring benefits to families in Quibala, which means that, at the regional level, the same project will allow 10 thousand families to be connected to the public network'.
'We are currently supplying electricity to Quibala through a temporary substation and with the new substation it will allow more families to be connected to electricity,' he reiterated.
In the same vein, he said that, as part of the rural electrification project, in its second phase in Quibala, the installation of 34 transformer stations is underway for families who never had electricity before national independence, as well as public lighting, making this 'a great gain'.
According to the contractor, João da Silva, 'we have two substations here, one that transforms from high to medium voltage and another that transforms medium to distribution, in which one is managed by the National Electricity Transmission Network (RNT) and the other by the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE).
However, he said that it 'will meet current needs, but it already foresees the expansion and doubling of capacity in the future, because we know that Quibala e has strong growth'.
'We are installing 25 megawatts and they will replace the 10 megawatts that currently exist,' he clarified.
On the occasion, the provincial governor of Cuanza-Sul, Mara Quiosa, declared that 'this is a sign of a lot of work on the part of the Executive that will benefit more families, as well as point out the connections to large farms in Quibala'.
'This demonstrates the concern we also have for the productive sector in the field of electricity so that the generator sets are replaced,' he said.
He added that 'bringing energy to farms will allow producers to have lower production costs and that may eventually be reflected in the reduction of prices to the final consumer'.
The municipality of Quibala has an estimated population of 173,576 inhabitants (116,672 live in the municipal seat), distributed by the communes Sede, Ndala Cachibo, Cariango and Lonhe, occupying a territorial extension of 10,280 square kilometers. LC/SC/MRA/DOJ
