Caculo-Cabaça - The electricity to be generated from Caculo-Cabaça Hydroelectric Facility (AHCC), in Angola’s northern Cuanza Norte province, will benefit, not only the country (Angola), but also the Southern Africa countries, via the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP).
The Southern African Power Pool is a cooperative organisation of the national electricity companies of the Southern Africa sub-region, of which Angola is also member.
Under SAPP, the export of electricity will be implemented after the completion of the construction work on the Caculo-Cabaça dam, scheduled for 2028.
The information became official during the institutional video shown at the ceremony that marked the provisional deviation of the course of the river Kwanza.
Angolan head of State João Lourenço Saturday in northern Cuanza Norte province pressed the button that "symbolises" the authorisation to divert the Kwanza river.
The ceremony paves the way for the beginning of the excavation work in the open air for the construction of Caculo-Cabaça dam wall.
In addition to Angola, SAPP member countries include Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
