Luanda – The Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN) recently received a visit from technicians from foreign companies who acquired the specifications for the public tender to choose the infrastructure manager.
The visit brought together four foreign companies, of European and American origin, with experts in the management of airport infrastructures.
According to the Ministry of Transport's website, the companies verified “on site” the capabilities and potential of all infrastructure available and ready to operate at the new airport.
To this end, the report highlights that, in recent days, the interest of yet another international operator was known, a consortium formed by Chinese companies.
Launched on November 17, 2023, the Public Tender for the Concession of the Right to Exploration, Management and Maintenance of the AIAAN provides for its concession for a period of 25 years, with the possibility of extension for another 15.
Opened on November 10th last year, AIAAN has the capacity to receive up to 15 million passengers/year and can process 130k tons of goods/year.
The new international airport was designed to become one of the largest and most relevant airport and logistics hubs on the African continent, not only to boost inter-African commercial exchange and promote mobility between African countries, but also to consolidate Angola's connection and from Africa to the rest of the world.
