Luanda - The Interbank Service Company (EMIS) launched the Direct Debit System (SDD), a new system which allows bank customers to authorize direct discount to their account, for recurring payments or installments resulting from the acquisition of goods on credit.

“The system allows any bank customer to authorize the debit of their account for payments for services such as the supply of water, energy, elecommunications, pay television, gas, insurance, house rents, tuition fees or installments arising from the acquisition of goods on credit”. EMIS said in a press release.

Also taking into account the advantages of the SDD is the fact that customers do not have to go to bank branches to make such payments or recharge recurring services, as well as avoiding the cancellation of the service to be paid due to the beneficiary's forgetfulness.

Another benefit of this system is the automatic collection, without delays in receipts and reduces costs, and can be implemented in the post-payment and pre-payment modality.

The SDD also has the advantage of being completely “interoperable”, i.e., the debtors (customer) and the creditor (service provider) can be domiciled in different banks, and the service is supported by a set of rules that provide robust guarantees to the parties involved.

According to EMIS, at this time, the system is already in operation with several entities, such as DSTV, ENSA, Global Seguros, Nossa Seguros and ZAP Media, and is in the process of joining other service providers.

For EMIS, the operationalization of the Direct Debit System represents an important milestone for the modernization of the Angolan financial system, contributing positively to transform the way of making and receiving payments.

EMIS is a public limited company owned by commercial banks in the national market, with the main mission of developing and operating the Angolan Payment System (SPA).

Founded in 2001, the company aims to contribute to the massification of electronic payment in Angola and to the overall efficiency of the Angolan payment system, ensuring security, effectiveness, convenience and innovation, at the lowest possible cost. OPF/QCB/DOJ
