Luanda - More than 50,000 Automatic Payment Terminals (TPA) already have a new functionality that allows payments to be made for purchases through “QR Code”, using the Multicaixa Express (MCX) mobile application, without using the physical bank Card.
According to the Interbank Services Company (EMIS), the number of TPAs updated with this solution represents 40% of the universe of around 190,000 terminals available in Angola.
With this solution, which aims to expand and facilitate financial transactions with greater security and comfort, MCX Express users can make payments for purchases at TPAs, using the reading of the QR Code that is generated at the terminal.
To use this payment method, the operator must insert the amount into the TPA (even without the card) and the user opens their MCX Express and presses the 'Purchases' button, pointing the cell phone's camera at the QR Code that appears on the device and validates the purchase.
Among the benefits, EMIS highlights speed, security (by not exposing the physical card) and sustainability (reduction in the use of physical cards).
He adds that one of the objectives of using MCX Express is to dematerialize the payment card. The launch of the QR Code is another step towards achieving this goal.
EMIS recalls that, on a daily basis, the Multicaixa Network processes more than 8.5 million financial transactions, across more than 3,800 ATMs, with around 190 thousand Automatic Payment Terminals and more than 1.3 million users of the MCX Express. QCB/DOJ
