Brazzaville - The Angolan Ambassador to the Republic of Congo, Vicente Muanda, considered, this Wednesday, the reopening of the TAAG Luanda/Brazzaville air route as an extremely important feat for strengthening relations between the two countries.

The air connection between Angola and the Republic of Congo, through their respective capitals, by Angolan Airlines flights, begins on the 2nd of the next month (August), replacing the Luanda-Ponta Negra route, as announced this week by the Angolan flag carrier.

According to TAAG, the last flight on the Luanda-Ponta Negra route is scheduled for July 26th.

The Angolan airline informs that Luanda – Brazaville flights will have two weekly frequencies, with departures on Friday and Sunday, with a Dash-8 400 model aircraft, with capacity for 74 passengers, 10 in business class and 64 in economy.

For the Angolan diplomat, in addition to the reopening of this route, which has been stopped since 2021, the authorities of the Central African Republic have also requested that TAAG fly to Bangui, its capital, with a view to also strengthening economic ties.

Vicente Muanda, who was speaking to the Angolan press, on the sidelines of the first Conference on Afforestation and Reforestation, said that Angola and the Republic of Congo maintain bilateral relations in several sectors, such as defense and security, transport, cross-border trade and migration.

In the border field, the ambassador said that the two countries need to create more dynamism in defining land borders, because the dossier has been dragging on for almost five years.

The big issue in this process, he indicated, is finding the landmarks, because the cartographic maps of African countries show the former colonies.

The first International Conference on Afforestation and Reforestation takes place from the 2nd to the 5th of July this year, promoted by the Government of the Republic of Congo.

Representatives of the African Union and United Nations, as well as African statesmen and governments were invited to the event.
