Huambo – The Project created to Accelerate Economic Diversification and Job Creation “Diversifica Mais” carried out a large-scale survey of productive initiatives and potential customers of the Caála Logistics Platform, province of Huambo.

The assessment, which took place on two avocado production farms in the municipalities of Caála and Mungo, as well as in the “Rare Earths” exploration mine, in the municipality of Longonjo, was carried out by project managers and specialists.

A note to which ANGOP had access indicates that the work is taking place at the headquarters of Component 2 of the Project, which foresees investments in productive infrastructures, with a particular focus on industrial development poles and logistics platforms.

To this end, the planned investments are in the order of US$100 million and take place within the scope of the US$300 million financing agreement signed between the Angolan Government and the World Bank, for the implementation of the “Diversifica Mais” Project”.

He adds that the Ministry of Planning, as coordinator of the project, is implementing it in coordination with several public entities, and the Regulatory Agency for Cargo Logistics Certification of Angola will monitor the work, as it has the function of dynamizing and supervise the National Network of Logistics Platforms system.

Speaking to the press, the coordinator of the “Diversifica Mais” Project Implementation Unit, said he was “super impressed” with the infrastructure found, both the farms and the Longonjo “Rare Earth” exploration mine.

“In fact, we are very impressed and we will see how the Diversifica Mais Project can support these institutions, in terms of infrastructure to facilitate their access, as they are the ones who will provide the Caála Logistics Platform”, he signaled.

He said that these are, above all, avocado production farms, due to the fact that it is the product that will supply the Caála Logistics Platform, while the project will only support last-mile infrastructure.

Pedro Marcelino explained that the survey served to verify the extent to which there are last-mile infrastructure needs in these institutions, which was followed by pre-listing, where some preferred to be helped in terms of expanding the network electrical and other water supply.

Before this region of the country, the delegation, which traveled to the neighboring province of Bié, worked, with the same purpose, in the municipality of Caconda (Huíla) whose focus is on radiography of the state of infrastructures considered important to support productive initiatives large scale. ALH/CF/DOJ/DOJ
