Saurimo - Angola has topped the mining sector as part of its strategy to diversify the country’s economy, given its potential, especially in terms of diamonds.
In order to make the sector profitable, the Angolan state has implemented measures aimed at increasing investor confidence and allowing large companies to enter the country.
Another attraction strategy has been the regular holding of events that bring together major national and international companies in the mining industry, such as the International Diamond Conference.
This year, the 2nd conference takes place on October 24 and 25 in Saurimo, Lunda-Sul, where 1,500 participants are expected to take part with the focus on the participation of the group of the seven most developed and industrialized countries in the world, the G7.
These are Canada, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany and Japan.
Speaking about the preparations for the activity on Tuesday in Saurimo, the deputy coordinator of the event, Ana Feijó, assured that all the conditions have been created for the event to achieve its objectives.
Ana Feijó said a pavilion is being set up, where some products from the value chain and the mining sector will be exhibited along with a stage with a giant screen to enable those organizations that would not be directly in the main hall to follow the proceedings.
She recalled that the conference is fundamentally aimed at showing the potential of the diamond sub-sector and to introduce to potential investors the favorable business environment in the country, with emphasis on legislation and reduced bureaucracy in licensing processes.
Over two days, topics such as the Kimberley process, the certification system, geological mining research, diamond exploration in Angola, cutting, technological innovation, logistics in the industry and in the semi-industrial sector will be discussed.
The 2nd Angola International Diamond Conference comes three years after the first event of its kind was held in October 2021 at the same venue. JW/HD/AMP
