Lobito – The International Credit Bank (BIC) and Angola National Radio (RNA) group run a Forum on thursday in Lobito city dubbed “The Lobito Corridor – A HUB to Boost the Angolan Economy ”.
According to a press release sent Monday to ANGOP, the third BIC/RNA Forum will consist of two panels with topics such as: The
contribution of the Lobito Corridor to the international development of Angola and The importance of logistics centers along the Lobito Corridor.
The role of banking in financing the economy and the Lobito Corridor as a driver of development are other issues that will be under analysis.
The BIC/RNA forum is part of a strategic partnership between the two institutions, whose aim is to help the economic development of Angola and the diversification of its economy.
The meeting brings together public and private institutions and national experts of the sector.
Privatized for a period of 30 years by the "Lobito Atlantic Railway" consortium, made up of the companies Vecturis, Trafigura and Mota Engil, the Lobito Corridor includes the city's port, the ore terminal and the Benguela Railway, whose railway extends to 1,344 kilometres (Angola), linking Luau to the Atlantic.
Given its strategic role in regional economic development, more than two billion dollars have been invested in the facelift of the infrastructure, with the aim to improve and boost the transport of various goods, benefiting the three border countries (Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia).
