Lobito - The Ministry of Transport holds on June 6 and 7 its 15th Consultative Council in Lobito, Benguela province, under the motto: ‘Consolidating the sector's reforms and developing Angola into a regional transport and logistics hub’.

According to a statement that reached ANGOP, the event is to address topics such as structuring projects in the transport sector and the importance of logistics infrastructures in economic growth.

Urban planning in the context of mobility and transport and urban intermodality and the benefits for urban mobility will also be analyzed by the participants.

Lobito city has two important infrastructures in the Lobito Corridor, which extends far beyond national borders, with a structuring impact on the entire Southern African Development Community (SADC).

One is the Benguela Railway (CFB), which crosses the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Moxico, to the borders of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia.

The other is the Port of Lobito, which accounts for a high percentage of the international trade of this entire sub-region, especially minerals from the DRC and Zambia.

In addition to these, Benguela province also has Catumbela International Airport, whose certification process is still underway.TC/CRB/AMP
