Luanda - Users of ATM cards are authorized, as from last Friday, to withdraw the amount of up to 100,000 Kwanzas per day at automatic telling machines (ATM), ANGOP confirmed.
This limit is the result of a measure by the Central Bank of Angola (BNA), applicable to financial institutions under its supervision.
The maximum amount that was previously allowed was of 60,000 kwanzas (one dollar is equivalent to 545,928 kwanzas) per day.
Contacted by ANGOP, the Angolan citizen João Jacinto said he had withdrawn 100,000 kwanzas in three operations, without using a bank official.
In his turn, the user Maurício Daniel stressed that it will contribute to the reduction of queue in the banks.
The civil servant Constantino Lourenço praised the decision of the BNA, but suggested the reinforcement of security in the ATMs, to avoid possible robberies.
With this measure, commercial banks begin to charge fees for using the ATM network.
