Lobito - Benguela Railway (CFB) has admitted the possibility to increase its circulation by 2021, after two more locomotives from General Electric joined the company on Wednesday.
The assurance came from the company’s CEO, Luís Teixeira, when addressing a receipt locomotive ceremony held in Lobito Port (coastal Benguela province).
There is the possibility for the increase of more trains along Huambo, Kuito (Bié) and Luena (Moxico) stations.
The locomotives are part of a batch of ten, which arrived last Saturday in the country’s capital, Luanda.
Eight locomotives are designed for Luanda Railway (CFL).
Luis Teixeira told the press that the locomotives will reinforce the fleet of the existing 48 units in the company.
Angola received from the General Electric American company a total of 100 locomotives, estimated at USD 430 billion.
CFB transports monthly an average 80,000 passengers and hundreds of tons of various goods.
