Luanda - The multisectoral commission to support the 2024 Census has set up an ‘Operational Command Post’ to monitor in detail the process of collecting census data, with a view to providing rapid responses to any constraints in the General Population and Housing Census.
The announcement was made Thursday by the Minister of State and Head of the Military Household of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado, who said that this post will operate on the premises of the National Statistics Institute (INE) from the 18th of this month, the day before the Census begins.

He reiterated that all the conditions have been created for the start of this mega statistical operation to collect demographic and housing data throughout the country, involving more than 92,000 professionals, including census takers, technical assistants, logisticians and drivers.
He said that in order for the activity to be a success, the Angolan government had made around 30 billion kwanzas available to cover the costs of preparing the 2024 Census.
The director of Public Security for the National Police, commissioner Orlando Bernardo, guaranteed that more than 16,000 troops would be deployed to guarantee security and public order during the process.
In turn, the Minister of Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme, reiterated that the data from the Census will help the Executive to develop public policies to resolve the concerns of the population.
The 2024 Census, the second in the country in the space of ten years, kicks off in the early hours of the 19th of this month, with a census of cases considered special, such as the homeless, prison population, hotel residents, boarding schools, among others.
