Soyo - The general secretary of the Baptist Convention Church in Angola (CBA), Reverend Frederico Ferraz Domingos, stated, on Saturday, in Soyo, Zaire province, that the 2024 General Population and Housing Census, which begins within 20 days in country, will make it possible to restructure public policy strategies.

Speaking to the press, the Reverend highlighted that determining the real number of the population and its social condition allows the competent authorities to better plan the economy and resize social projects.

For the CBA reverend, the numbers are important, because they determine how many we are, where we are and how we are, stressing that the census process also helps the church define the actions for its expansion depending on the population density of each location in the country.

“We have brothers from the church who will directly participate in this process as census takers”, he revealed, stressing that awareness messages for adherence to this exercise have been transmitted to the faithful.

Asked to comment on the vandalization of public property, Reverend Frederico Ferraz Domingos applauded the approval, by the National Assembly, of the Proposed Law on the Crimes of Vandalization.

It should be noted that this proposal, approved on the 19th of this month, provides for criminal liability of three to 25 years for anyone who attacks the safety of public goods and services, such as electrical, electronic, communication, water or sanitation equipment.

“It is important, as a church, to make citizens aware that what is made for our enjoyment is to be taken care of and not to be damaged or stolen”, the religious leader said, stressing that the phenomenon of vandalization is outside the church’s plans and of the God.

On the social side, the reverend made it known that his Christian organization has infrastructures in some regions of the country, in the areas of education, health and agriculture.

The general secretary of the CBA is in Soyo where this Saturday he led a methodological meeting that reflected on the missionary life of this religious denomination, founded 84 years ago, in the province of Huambo.

Participating in this event, which took place under the motto “Strong churches, for a strong missionary convention”, were missionaries and church representatives from the country's 18 provinces.

The CBA church has 342 temples and about 700,000 believers spread across more than 50 municipalities in Angola and, according to its pastor, has the challenge of reaching the country's 164 districts in the coming years. PMV/JL/DOJ
