Luanda - The president of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Emeka Obegolu, has said in Nigeria that the institution he leads intends to hold a business forum with Angola in 2025, to strengthen and attract private investment, as part of the Angolan government’s economic diplomacy.
This was made clear during a working meeting that the leader of the Nigerian capital's business community held with Ambassador José Bamóquina Zau, which aimed to address the direct attraction of investment, ANGOP has learnt.
The intention to hold the forum arises from the fact that the current volume of business and the trade balance between Angola and Nigeria do not reflect the economic and financial potential of the two countries, leaders in oil production in sub-Saharan Africa, the statement said.
For this reason, the two sides agreed on the need to plan actions in line with the recommendations of the African Union, with emphasis on Africa free trade market.
Emeka Obegolu said the ACCI is willing to sign memoranda of understanding with its Angolan counterpart and to provide solid subsidies to the next meeting of the Angola-Nigeria Joint Commission, which in 2025 will update the legal instruments for cooperation between the two countries.
‘As Africans, we need to move forward together and better exploit the existing opportunities,’ Emeka Obegolu said.
The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry is an economic arm of Nigeria, with the power to influence political decisions on the country's economy.
Founded in August 1986, ACCI brings together 17 large groups of highly rated companies in the public and private sector specializing in trade, transport, banking and insurance, engineering and construction, agriculture, import and export, climate change, electricity, oil and gas, telecommunications and information technology, tourism and entertainment, manufacturing and law.
In addition, its vocation is anchored in empowering business people, bringing prosperity and building a strong community with innovation and a culture of success. QCB/AMP
