Luanda – The new quay of the port of Cabinda, equipped for large ships, will enter into service from April 26 with the first commercial trip of the catamaran between this northern province of Angola and the municipality of Soyo, in Zaire province.

It is an infrastructure estimated at USD 65 million and designed for more than 30 years, replacing the current temporary floating bridge, which for 12 years spent about 66 million kwanzas per month on the State Angolan just for maintenance, even after five years of use.

It includes a structure approximately 350 meters long and 12 meters wide, being prepared for the mooring of medium and large vessels, at the main quay, and for the mooring of catamarans and ferries, on the other side, simultaneously and without any interference from the services.

The infrastructure is part of a project called "Cabotagem Norte", which includes the construction of the Quebra-Mar jetty and the maritime passenger terminal in Cabinda, as well as the maritime passenger terminals and the jetty in the city of Soyo, in the province of Zaire, and also in Luanda.

“The works are taking place practically simultaneously, and the part prepared for docking the catamarans has already been completed. The area destined for the ferry is under construction and we believe that in three to four months it will also be completed”, recently said the CEO of the Port of Cabinda, José João Kuvíngua.
