Cabinda - The first phase of the construction of Cabinda Refinery is expected to be completed in December 2024, the general manager of the company responsible for the construction, GEMCORP, Marcus Weyll, has said.
The GEMCORP manager disclosed the information at the end of a visit the minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, paid to the refinery's construction works.
Marcus Weyll explained that the first phase of construction is 39.49 per cent completed physically and 100 per cent financially, adding that all the equipment has been placed in the site and that seven of the 18 planned reservoir tanks have already been built.
During the visit the minister spoke of the importance of fulfilling the deadline for the implementation of the project, which includes recruiting staff and training technicians.
The first phase of the Cabinda Refinery includes the construction of a crude oil distillation unit with a capacity of 30,000 barrels of crude oil per day, with the specificity of not burning gas, making it one of the first in Africa with this characteristic.
At least 1,500 jobs have been secured for the construction, assembly and operation of the refinery, most of them local young people.
The refinery will have a processing capacity of 60,000 barrels/day when it is fully operational.ING/PL/PPA/AMP
