Cabinda - The CEO of the Port of Cabinda, José João Kuvingua, on Wednesday said he expects improvements this year in cargo handling and revenue collection, with entrance into operation of the breakwater.
José Kuvingua made the statement on the sidelines of the 62nd anniversary of the Cabinda Port Company, underlining that with the new infrastructure, port operations will no longer depend on the sea waves resulting from the calms that appear at certain times of the year.
According to the CEO, the institution will also be reinforced with new vertical and horizontal cargo handling equipment, such as an 18-tonne crane, cranes, trucks and tractors, among others to increase its operational capacity.
"We are sure that with the operation of the breakwater, we will increase the frequency of ferries transporting goods to the coastal area of the country," he said.
Cabinda Port Company collected over 6 billion kwanzas in the last two years.
In 2023, the port handled 16,043 containers and 194,000 tonnes of various goods, having registered the entry and exit of 417 large and medium-sized ships.JFC/AC/DAN/AMP
