Cabinda – One million and 239 thousand liters of various fuels were seized in the last 12 months, in Cabinda, by bodies assigned to the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), for alleged smuggling to neighboring countries.
The data was announced on Saturday by the acting delegate of the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior in Cabinda (MININT), fire commissioner Henrique Capita, during the event commemorating the 45th anniversary of the institutionalization of the bodies.
Without providing comparative data in relation to the previous period, Henrique Capita reported that a total of 874,147 liters of diesel, 315,246 of gasoline and 99,843 kerosene had been seized, resulting from 295 crimes of an economic nature.
Regarding the chapter on road accidents, the fire commissioner lamented the deaths of 84 people, 668 injuries and material damage valued at over 100 million kwanzas, as a result of 606 accidents.
According to the corporation, negligence, poor condition of the roads and non-compliance with the rules of the road code are the main causes of accidents in Cabinda.
He said that during the period, 3,433 crimes of a diverse nature were recorded, which resulted in the arrest of 2,339 citizens and the dismantling of 24 groups of criminals.
122 centers selling various drugs were also dismantled, as well as 14 groups of illegal prospectors for strategic minerals.
Regarding migratory activity, the fire commissioner said that the Foreign Migration Service repatriated 5,502 citizens, while 2,556 foreigners voluntarily left the country.
In the penitentiary domain, Henrique Capita highlighted the special attention that the socialization process at the prison level has received, involving 401 inmates.
In the field of Civil Protection and Firefighters, it was announced that 152 fires of small and medium proportions had been recorded, with greater emphasis on the housing sector with 52 cases, followed by the environmental sector with 24 cases, which resulted in 26 deaths, 11 injuries with material damage valued at more than 300 million kwanzas.
Also throughout the period under analysis, 4,178 residences were affected by the rains, of which 40 were completely destroyed, resulting in 24 deaths, 21 injuries, leaving a total of 11,683 people homeless.
In turn, the vice-governor of Cabinda for the Technical and Infrastructure sector, Agostinho da Silva, recognized the work developed by the operational bodies of MININT, in the fight against delinquency, illegal migration, fuel smuggling, escape tax authorities, illegal fishing, among others.
