Luanda - The Angolan Diamond Exchange, which aims to sell the mineral directly and influence its marketing on the world market, will start operating at the end of this year, the Secretary of State for Mineral Resources, Jânio Correia Victor announced on Friday in Luanda.

Speaking to the press during the launch of the II International Diamond Conference of Angola (AIDC), to be held on 23 and 24 October in Saurimo, Lunda-Sul province, he assured that preparations for the launch of this scholarship are in the final phase.

'We are preparing for the exchange to start operating later this year, so that we can start selling our diamonds in the country,' he reinforced.

He stressed that Angola, as one of the largest diamond producers in the world, wants to participate directly in decisions on the commercialization of its resources in an open and transparent manner.

On the other hand, Jânio Correia Victor pointed to the Luele mining project, inaugurated in 2023, in Lunda-Sul, as one of the largest kimberlite mines in the world, presenting indicators that should reach a volume of more than 10 million carats per year in the near future.

On the II International Diamond Conference of Angola (AIDC), the Secretary of State said that the intention, in addition to attracting large investors in the country, is also to make Angola a major reference in Africa and for the international market in this sector. 

He said that the event will be attended by businessmen and delegations from several countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and America.

Under the motto 'Angola: Investing together to make a difference in the community', the II International Diamond Conference of Angola will take place at the Diamond Development Pole, in Saurimo, under the promotion of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (MIREMPET) and ENDIAMA.

According to the program, the opening ceremony will be chaired by the holder of the MIREMPET portfolio, Diamantino Azevedo, followed by speeches by the ministers of Zimbabwe, Namibia, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Botswana, South Africa and Mozambique.

During the two days of the activity, topics such as 'The role of diamonds in the global market', 'The advantages of adhering to international codes for the evaluation of resources and reserves', 'G7 certification system', 'Semi-industrialization', 'Infrastructure' and 'Logistics and technological innovation' will be addressed.

Also on the conference agenda are topics such as 'Innovations in the diamond cutting and cutting industry', 'Social responsibility', 'Kimberley process' and 'Financing and insurance of diamond projects'. OPF/QCB/DOJ
